PI Engineering team members include recognized experts in dam, river, and floodplain engineering, and coastal flood and erosion hazard analyses. Our floodplain analysis experience includes the application of both 1-D and 2-D steady and unsteady flow models for determination of floodplain and floodway boundaries, and for design of various flood hazard reduction facilities. PI Engineering has conducted flood studies involving significant split flows, floodplain storage effects, and inter-basin flow exchanges, requiring use of the most advanced unsteady flow models for peak flow determination and floodway analysis.
We have performed flood hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and floodplain mapping conforming to FEMA guidelines and specifications. We have performed various modeling for historical and synthetic floods, and developed our own GIS software to automate DTM and DEM spatial data applications to hydrologic/hydraulic and coastal wave/circulation models and GIS DFIRMs. Our technical advancement in GIS-based data automation and our up-to-date unsteady flow modeling experience allow our team to tackle most complex floodplain flooding issues.
