Pacific International Engineering performs numerical modeling in support of engineering projects in coastal, estuarine, riverine and lake environments. Numerical modeling is performed to provide insight into complex physical processes and develop confidence in conceptual designs. In addition, appropriate application of calibrated and verified numerical models can aid in design optimization and evaluation of potential project impacts.
Pacific International Engineering develops and applies numerical modeling tools for simulation of:
- Wave transformation, including refraction, diffraction, shoaling, reflection, transmission, runup, overtopping and longshore current
- Tide and wind-induced circulation and river discharge
- Sediment transport under waves and currents
- Water quality, including contaminant fate, residence time and salinity intrusion
- Vessel-generated pressure field long-waves
- Vessel-generated short-period wakes
- Vessel-generated jet/propeller wash
- Dynamic berthed vessel response
